Keith Bentley explains that his journey began helping his uncle, who repaired sewing machines from home and a small shop. At around nineteen, Keith started assisting him on Sundays and eventually joined the trade full-time, despite knowing very little about it at first. What began as unfamiliar work soon became the foundation of his career.

While visiting local factories, Keith would collect surplus fabric scraps originally used for testing and cleaning machines. One day, a passing factory worker asked to buy a piece, and that simple exchange sparked an idea. Soon, Keith began bringing fabric back to the shop, setting up a small table where local women could buy materials to make their own clothes — marking the accidental start of fabric sales.

In 1999, the business moved to its current home at 4–6 Chapel Road, bringing sewing machines, fabrics, and haberdashery together under one roof. Today, Regent Home of Sewing is a family-run business with deep expertise, now expanding online to share its knowledge more widely. Their strong team ethos and commitment to quality ensure customers keep coming back.
